<description>Working in Uganda and Rwanda, in the habitats of another hugely threatened great ape, the mountain gorilla, we have also seen how sustainable tourism can work.
We believe that ecotourism in these remote areas needs to respect the culture of local communities, their modest economic means and the fragility of the environment. Providing western standards of comfort needs to be balanced with the pressure local people face in obtaining food and clean water.
All of our staff, from the waiters and waitress to the Lodge managers come from local communities, this helps to ensure local people have a stake in the tourism in their areas, and have an incentive to ensure the survival of the mountain gorilla.

Regards

<description>I have followed the tragedy of deforestation in the Congo Basi for some time and am very concerned with what is going on.

I operate asmall bush camp in the Greater Kruger Park area in South africa. We have found that the most effective way to cobserve nature is to make the average person aware. We take people on walks through the bush to primarily make them aware of the environment and in that way try and light asmall fire within everyone to become passionate to conserve our natural habitat.

Once people realise that tourism per se can bring them benefits they will ensure that the sources are protected. It must certainly works in our area where we are in close liazon with the local communities.

Swamp your area with tourist and they will go back home and create awareness among others and in such a way habitat can be protected.

Greetings
